Quick help on Understanding Versions of software

Joshua Engels

Level 1

I notice often that Cisco may have two lines of software running.  For Example:

Cisco Hostscan:  Releases

  • 3.1.01065
  • 3.0.11046

Typically I would think of 3.0 as the earlier release code and 3.1 a later release however, these two code lines above, the 3.1 was release earlier.

I get that the original 3.1 came out after 3.0, the confusing part to me is, which version should I use?  Also, are the 3.1 hostscan's interchangable with the 3.0 mobility clients?

Thanks,

Josh

Josh,

To some extent AC release notes will answer your questions:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/vpn_client/anyconnect/anyconnect31/release/notes/anyconnect31rn.html#wp43208

3.0 is an older release, so it had more revisions.

There may be a time when 3.1 revision is posted after 3.0 revision.

Rule of thumb, keep AC version and HS version same :-)
