Remote Conection through modem

Hi there,

I am about to perform some changes on some remote site routers, connecting on our main site.

I would like to have a backup plan of out-of-band configuration option, in case something goes wrong. Travelling to these locations is not easy, as there is only one of me here, and i would like to be able to have control on both routers (MAIN and remote)

Console connectino to the remote routers, and remotely administering the PC connected to the remote router is not an option, as i might mess up the IP connectivity.

I would like a solution to be able to remotely connect on the remote routers such as telephone line.

Something that i would dial a number to get to the router. Can i use the AUX port for something like this???

The remote routers i want to configure are 1721 .

Any thoughts and ideas will be deeply appreciated.

Yes, you can use telephone lines and modems connected to AUX or serial ports to get access to remote routers. Here you are some documents about it (but there a lot at cisco website):
