Setting up ISDN for dial-up

I have 2650XM and we are interested in setting it up as our dial-up router using a PRI ISDN circuit. At the moment we are using a 16 port analog modem module installed on a 3661 router for our dialup using AAA and RADIUS.

We would like to change that where we use ISDN PRI at our main site and terminate it on the 2650XM.

I need some pointers on the other equipments (cards) and configuration that I will need so that dialup users using dial into the network and get authenticated using RADIUS

Please I need your help

Thank you

Hello,

regarding he hardware, you would need an E1 module, such as the NM-1CE1T1-PRI, check the link below:

Cisco E1/T1 ISDN PRI Network Module

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/modules/ps2797/products_data_sheet09186a0080189f95.html

Regarding the configuration, have a look at the sample configuration below (you need the configuration for the ´maui-nas-01´ router), it has RADIUS, a T1, as well as async connectivity, which you probably do not need, so leave the part with the ´Group-Async0´ out.

Configuring Basic AAA RADIUS for Dial-in Clients

HTH,

GP

Thank you GP for the info. Would you be able to tell me whether the 2650XM router will need the digital modems. I believe the 2650XM have only one network module slot which will be used for the E1/PRI network module on this case.

I need you advice
