Slow VPN Client Performance over DSL

We have a Windows NT 4 / SP6 workstation that only sees ~150kbps into our network. The connection is DSL, 768kbps-capable each direction. The PC is a PIII 667 w/ 128MB RAM. She VPN's into a 5000 concentrator.

The connection speed as-is is unusable for the application. We expected much better from DSL.

Does anyone have any ideas???

Try to set the mtu on the vpn client to say 1400 with the setmtu utility. If this doesn't work, what is the DSL connection, is it with the PPPoE software on the same PC, if so adjust the max frame size on the PPPoE adapter properties to 1400.
