SSH across an IPSEC tunnel

I have a client who requires to run SSH sessions across an ipsec tunnel running between an 827 ios and a pix 506.

All NAT/ networking is ok as pings between the servers /networks are fine.

(as are all the current applications)

SSH from the PIX internal network to the 827 internal network fails.

Strangely SSH from the 827 internal network t the pix internal network works fine.

Does any one have any ideas?

The pix is version 6.1(4) and the IOS is 12.2.8

CSCdw51492 - ssh to pix will drop ping packets going across pix.
