UC560, SSLVPN, AnyConnect Client = DNS Problem??

Hi All,

Ok, so I connect to the office network via SSLVPN using the AnyConnect Client. The box I am connecting to is a UC560 and it has split-tunneling enabled.

I configured the SSLVPN to use the network's INTERNAL DNS server. Now, I can see/access all the shared folders on my Windows 2008 server through the VPN... but only by using the numerical IP address of the server. I checked the DNS server and IT is configured properly with PTR records and a reverse lookup zone all set up properly.

nslookup through the vpn resolves the IP address of the machine but also returns an error (see below):

C:\Users\jgoldstein>nslookup hgssvr01

Server:  hgssvr01.shepherd.local

Address:  192.168.20.20

*** hgssvr01.shepherd.local can't find hgssvr01: Non-existent domain

C:\Users\jgoldstein>

My goal is to have my users be able to connect via the VPN and continue to use their windows mapped drives to access server shares.. without having to alter each user's hosts file or force them to use numerical IP addresses.

Does anyone have any ideas about this?

Hmm.. further research points to NETBIOS traffic not passing through the vpn?  There MUST be a way to use these mapped drives....
