Understaning the panels on the Cisco ASDM 6.1 for ASA 5510

Hi all. I am new to Cisco. My company recently moved from a location on a military base to one off of the base. While on base the scope of my system admin duties was running reports, creating e-mail accounts, setting up printers, re-imaging PC's and adding them back to the base domain. I had no actual equipment (servers or routers) that I was responsible for. Now that we are off base I am now in responsible for two switches, an ASA 5510 (VPN), a Cisco 1841 router (T1), and (if the base authorizes it) a file server. I've attached a couple of screenshots from the ASA 5510 and I want to see if I am at least understanding what I am seeing. Looking at the 'Traffic Status' panel and then at the 'Outside' Interface Traffic Usage (Kbps) graph, is this showing me the amount of data coming into and going out of the VPN router? I know this sounds like a very basic question but I have zero experience with Cisco devices and everyone I ask can't/won't give me a straight answer. I am trying to determine why the T1 connection we have is performing so poorly. I have 49 users here and I have been told that the T1 should be able to handle this. However, all of my users are having to go out of the T1 at the same time to access applications and pull data from the base. My guess is that is why it is doing so poorly (too much going in and out of the T1). Thanks for any help anyone can offer and sorry for the basic nature of the question.

I'll try to help you.

I suppose you have this setup:

internet ---- (T1) 1841 (Fe0/0) ----- (outside) ASA

T1 = 1.544 megabits per second, in these days it's no so much, especially if you have 49 users coming through this T1.

On screenshot you provided is nicely seen the problem.

You're sending almost 2Mbits from the ASA to the C1841 (T1 cann't handle this) and receiving almost 1,5Mbit.

So, from my point of view you are on the limit of your internet line.

49users should be ok, be it depends on the character of the traffic, they're sending and receiving.

Also, if you sature line in one way, there will be problem with whole line.
