When I try to start the VPN dialer, the following message pops up:
The necessary IPSec service could not be started. You will not be able to make a connection to the remote IPSec server.
There is no indication of what causes it to fail, or what should be done to correct the problem. The log viewer shows nothing. Any clues?
I have tried to uninstall, reboot, reinstall, etc in various combinations and sequences.

Ive never run into that problem before and I have installed the client numerous times. I did have a problem on a Toshiba notebook with a third party dialer product. Once I uninstalled it, it worked fine. Are you using the latest version of the VPN client? You might just want to open a TAC case with this one. Has anybody else seen this before?

I have the same problem I can get our VPN Concentrator 3015 to work with Windows2000 using certificates. When I try and configure on 98 I don't have the options to enter in the filters on the MMC. I am getting the same IPSec error. Any more information in that
