We are using a VPN 3000 concentrator to connect remote sites to our corporate network. They are using DSL and AT&T dial up. We are connecting them to an AS400. Screens are slow to pull up and frequent disconnects are taking place. If they dial in using RAS there are no slow downs using the same AS400 Connection. (Could the VPN "header changes" cause the as400 to inspect the packets closer when using the vpn?) Do you have any suggestions? The only thing that I can attrib to the slowdown is the fact that we are using compression (56bit w/3com nic handles compression onboard) and changing external addresses to private internal addresses.
Thanks
