VPN ASA To ASA

Alfredo93
Level 1
Level 1

I am setting up a vpn between 2 asa, but the vpn does not go up

It stops in this state : MM_WAIT_MSG2

Through the capture I have seen that the requests start from SideA and arrive at SideB but then do not return.
In between there is only one routre that can be pinged from both said.
Do you have any advice for me to solve the problem?

@Alfredo93

Is isakmp/ikev2 enabled on both ASAs outside interface?

Is the crypto map enabled on both ASAs outside interface?

Is ikev1/ikev2 enabled in the group policy?

If the ASAs can ping the router, can they ping each other?

Please provide the configuration of both ASA

I am attaching the conf as requested

@Alfredo93

Nothing obviously sticks out, does the router in the middle nat the traffic or have an ACL?

Please run a packet capture on ASA, e.g. - "capture CAPOUT interface outside match udp host <local public ip> host <remote public ip>"

Please enable IKE debugs on both ASA, generate interesting traffic to attempt to establish the VPN and provide the output.

there is no acl on the router.

 debugging on ASA_2 does not show anything

@Alfredo93

You've defined a group-policy 93.0.0.1 but it doesn't appear to be referenced under the tunnel-group 93.0.0.1. You'd need the following:-

tunnel-group 93.0.0.1 general-attributes
default-group-policy 93.0.0.1

...without it configured, the default group policy would be used. Which would dictate whether ikev1 was enabled or not.

Double check or provide the full configuration of both ASA.

I added the line you requested but it doesn't change anything

Asa1#

A dummy question - does ASA2 knows where to route 93.0.0.1? We don't see any packets leaving ASA2, which could easily be due to routing.

Could you please post configuration from both ASA1 and ASA2, as well as router in between?

BR,

Milos

the 3 configurations are attached

Based on configurations, all looks good. I don't see anything standing out, as Rob stated.I did noticed one thing, but I'm not sure it would make difference, although it could affect traffic.

Could you please correct:

nat (inside,outside) source static any interface

to

nat (inside,outside) source dynamic any interface

By doing static NAT to interface address, I'm not sure how would VPN traffic behave.

BR

Milos

I modified as recommended but nothing has changed. I took another asa with the exact same version of ASA 1 and replaced it to Asa2 with the configuration of the old Asa and it works, fore it was a bug or they were not compatible
