VPN Client 3.0.2 on WIN2K Desktop - The VPN System is not available

I am trying to configure VPN Client on my home desktop that is on WIN2K. I get the following error as soon as I click on VPN Dialer from Start -> Programs -> Cisco Systems VPN Client -> VPN Dialer:

The VPN sub-system is not available. You will not able to make a remote connection to the IPSec server.

The IPSec Log Viewer logs the following messages:

1 09:39:14.609 07/14/02 Sev=Warning/3 DIALER/0xE3300006

GI process failed "GI_ERROR_IPC_FAILURE" (FFFFFFF8h).

2 09:39:15.515 07/14/02 Sev=Warning/3 DIALER/0xE330000C

GI get status callback timed out.

I click OK on the message and try and connect. After a while I get the following error message:

System Error: Connection Manager failed to respond.

HELP!!!!

Thanks in advance.

Hiya,

That error message is generated when the background VPN-service is not started.

Take a look in Services under Administrative tools and check if "Cisco Systems, Inc. VPN Service" (cvpnd) is started. If so, try to restart the service and try again, if not, try to start it and keep an eye open in the nt eventlog for further information.

Kind regards,

/M
