We have a laptop that was using cisco vpn client version 5 without issue for quite a while and then last week it gave error: failed to enable virtual adapter". I attempted to unistall the client but it would not uninstall under the currently logged on user so I logged on as local administrator and was able to remove vpn client.
We restarted the computer and then re-installed vpn client version 5 and at the end of the installation it says successfull and then wants to restart again. As soon as I logged back on as administrator it says "Cisco Systems VPN Client 5.0.06.0160 Please wait while Windows configures Cisco Systems VPN Client". If I do not click the cancel button it will uninstall the vpn client. This happens when logging on as either the user or local Administrator. I have tried re-installing to different folders on the hard drive but the same thing happens whenever the computer is restarted.
Has anyone seen this or know how to stop it from happening?

Hi,
You might want to try to completely remove the VPN client and attempt a new installation following this link:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/secursw/ps2308/products_tech_note09186a0080094b7f.shtml
Sometimes other firewalls or antivirus software running on the client PC can cause this problems.
Give it a try and see if it helps.
Federico.

Same problem here. It installs, forces a reboot, and when I logon again it immediately uninstalls the client. Version 5.0.07.0290. Was upgrading from 5.0.03.xxxx.
