Hello,
I have installed the Cisco VPN Client 3.6.6 (A) on a W2K server running in remote administration mode.
This server has two NICs.
When I try to connect a router configured with the XAUTH feature from the VPN client running in terminal server mode, I receive the following error on the VPN client screen:
"User authentication application failed to start."
With the following logs:
1 19:18:58.046 05/05/04 Sev=Warning/2 CM/0xA3100020
Process launch failed with an error code of 0xFFFFFFFC(OS_function:473)
2 19:18:58.046 05/05/04 Sev=Warning/3 CM/0xA3100009
Unable to launch xAuth application
3 19:18:58.062 05/05/04 Sev=Warning/2 IKE/0xA3000062
Attempted incoming connection from 10.0.4.2. Inbound connections are not allowed.
4 19:18:58.125 05/05/04 Sev=Warning/3 DIALER/0xE3300008
GI VPNStart callback failed "CM_MISSING_XAUTH_APP" (13h).
Thanks for your support.

Hello chris,
where is the server placed ? are you able to reach the outside IP (IPSEC peer) of the router from the server ??
is the group authentication going through ? check this URL for the router configurations.

Hi Sachinraja,
The VPNC client and the router are connected on the same lan.
Without the XAUTH feature enable on the router the IPSEC session is working perfectly.
But once I activate the XAUTH feature on the router, I received the error
"User authentication application failed to start."
Maybe the VPN client with the XAUTH feature is not RDP compliant? Normaly, the VPN client should pop-up the username/login window.
Brgds,
Chris.
