VPN Connection Terminating

I am having a problem with a remote office trying to VPN into my network.

Everything works perfect as long as there is only one user connected. The moment another user fires off the VPN client (not even connecting) the currently connected user loses their connection. It gives the following error:

Secure VPN connection terminated by peer:

Reason not specified

I am being told by one of my admins it is because they are using a Cable modem connection and it does not have enough bandwidth to support multiple connections. I have a hard time believing this. I also want to mention that each connection coming out of the building has the same IP.

Here are the specifics (I'm sure I'll mis something just let me know if I do):

OS: XP SP1

Cable Connection:Comcast

Upload Speed: 372 Kilobits/s

Download Speed: 3,728 Kilobits/s

Connecting to Cisco 3000 Concentrator

Concentrator Software Version: 3.0.Rel Feb 28 2001

(I know I should update I just found out how out of date it is)

Client version(s): Happens with either 3.6.3 & 4.0.2A

Protocol: Ipsec/Nat

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

How is the remote office connected? Are they behind a device that makes an ipsec connection to your site, or is everyone running the software vpn client (=bad)?

bad = a PITA to manage, and likely to not work behind SOHO routers. if there is a SOHO router in place doing PAT/NAT, try updating its firmware to the latest revision, and disabling any IPSec passthrough features

No, there is no connection between the two facilities. All users are using VPN client software (=bad).

The ISP is Comcast. I will be calling them next to see if they can help with the IPSec passthrough (no confidence on that).

Try and force transparent tunneling on the Concentrator, and see if that makes a difference.
