VPN stopped working with Cisco ASA 5510

I'm looking for some insight or troubleshooting guides for our issue as our operations employee recently passed away, and I have no Cisco configuration experience.

We have a VPN setup with the Cisco ASA 5510 which uses a server on the inside to authenticate via Active Directory. There is also a Cisco Catalyst behind the ASA.

Two days ago our VPN stopped working and there were no known changes made to the configuration and everything is online and running as verified when connecting locally to the inside network. No one has access to this stuff but me right now.

I did notice that on the front of the ASA there are some LEDs, and the VPN Led does not light up at all.

Symptoms when connecting to the VPN:

  1. We use the Cisco VPN Client
  2. When you type in the username/password and hit OK, it immediately pops back up wanting you to enter the username/password.

An answer to fix this would be great, but really I'm hoping for a starting point on how to troubleshoot this myself at the least.

Hi @matthewGF

Make sure that the ASA itself does not have an expired credential on the AD.

 I've seen this before.
