I was wondering about the difference between VPN & Tunnel.

Tunnel is a protocol which allow secure date transfer from one network to another network. in order to make the communication secure "encapsulation" process is use/employee by the private network (RFC 1918) prior to sending it to public network. On the other hand, VPN is based on the idea of tunnel. It involves establishing and maintaining a logical network connection. On this connection, packets constructed in a specific VPN protocol format are encapsulated within some other base or carrier protocol, then transmitted between VPN client and server, and finally de-encapsulated on the receiving side.
