Web-Browsing with Inet-Explorer over vpn and a proxy

Hello!

I have some remote laptops which connect with cisco VPN client to our LAN.

The VPN is doing fine, but I also want them to browse the Web only using our Proxy-Server.

So, browsers like Mozilla or Netscape are doing quite well, but the MS-Internet-Explorer is not.

I think this has something to do with the proxy setup of the MSIE. You can configure a different proxy for every dialup-connection or when connected to the LAN.

But what ever I configure it is not working.

Has someone done this before, or an idea how I can handle this?

Thanks for your help!

Regards!

If the VPN server is a VPN 3000 concentrator or a router, you can enable "tunnel all" instead of using "split-tunnel" feature.

That means all the traffic will go through the VPN into your network, the HTTP traffic will go through the proxy-server and going out to the internet again.

In this way, you do not need to config any special settings in your browser.

If the VPN server is a PIX, you can not use "tunnel all" feature because PIX will not redirect ip traffic to internet again. In that case, there is no workaround.

Hi Paul

My customer use PIX

you say if i dont use Proxy it is not possible to redirect to internet dont you?

My customer use ipsec over lt2p but even though split tunneling configuration

vpn clients (lt2p connected remote users) can access central site without problem but cant go to Internet through PIX ?

Any comments will we appreciated
