Why do videos run from my C drive get jerky when I'm logged in to VPN?

Cisco Systems VPN Client Version 5.0.01.0600

Client Type(s): Windows, WinNT

When I am not logged into the VPN, I can play Quicktime videos off my C drive smoothly. When I'm logged on to my VPN via the client listed above, I get small, random delays in the same video coming off my C drive.

Any ideas why this might be?

Hi,

It could be related to MTU or TCP MSS or fragmentation issues.

When you're connected via VPN, there's extra overhead in the IP packets, the IP packets get encapsulated/encrypted and increase their size.

Normally this can be fix by adjusting those settings in the VPN server.
