Windows 2000 as a VPN solution?

Does anyone know the pro's and con's of using WIN2K L2TP with IPsec or PPTP as a VPN solution?

A software only solution is surely slower and more taxing on the server. PPTP is lightweight encryption so if anything use IPSEC/L2TP.
