Windows 2000 machine with BSOD after VPN Client install

When I install the 4.0.5 client on my W2K SP4 machine, after reboot I get a BSOD with a 7F UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP error. The only thing I can do to get the machine goint again, is reboot is afe mode and uninstall the VPN client.

Anybody any suggestion about what might cause this?

I saw that there is a newer release (4.6) available, but can't find the link to download it.

Thanks in advance

Tonnie

before rebooting Try reinstalling SP4 after the client install may change something needed for SP4

Reinstalling SP4 does make the PC (more) stable, it now does

not crash to a BSOD when starting Windows.

It now crashes with the same 7F error when the actual VPN connection is being made.

next thing to do is make sure you have the latested network drivers

What kind of network card do you have?

Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit Ethernet

I will see if there are new drivers around.

Will post the results back
