using centralized upgrade in a HA cluster

Hello,

we are using 2 virtual WSAs in a failover group and that managed by a virtual SMA.
When i start the centralized upgrade on the SMA for both appliances, is there some sort of sequence in which the appliance do the upgrade and restart? does the SMA check for that or is the upgrade performed simultaneously, which would cause a service downtime?

basically those steps:
WSA1 - download asyncOS image
WSA2 - download asyncOS image

WSA1 - install upgrade
WSA2 - remain online, wait for successful upgrade of WSA1

WSA1 - restart to finish upgrade
WSA2 - wait for WSA1 to be up again

WSA1 - running new ansyncOS version
WSA2 - install and restart to finish upgrade

the customer did an upgrade with this new feature and reported back that at some point both WSA appliances went down (or at least was the service not online/ready). So I am uncertain if this behavior works as intended or if we have some sort of configuration problem.

thank you
cheers

Daniel
