Software Update Management

Good Day everyone,

since we deplay webex in our VDI we try to figure out how we can manage the Versionsupdates from the VDI Plugin and the VDI Webex App.

normaly we would say, that we install a version, like 42.2.0.... on our Citrix Server and if we want to update the version, we install a new Version.

But at this moment weve got a problem, also if we installed the correct version (42.2.0...) its manually updates the App, so that the VDI Plugin is outdated. is there an option to deactive the automatic update? during the installprocess via DSM we activated the parameters for disable the auto upgrade "VDI client in a non-persistent VDI setting with autoupgrade disabled—msiexec /i c:\users\[username]\Downloads\Webex.msi ALLUSERS=1 ENABLEVDI=2 AUTOUPGRADEENABLED=0 ROAMINGENABLED=1"

Hi maxkue,

The issue you bring up is documented on this link:

https://help.webex.com/en-us/article/ntp1us7/Webex-App-%7C-VDI-release-notes#Cisco_Generic_Topic.dita_9390a7f5-07a2-4ed6-a759-41313ef4042a

However no direct solution from Cisco, therefore they leave you to come up with a creative way to keep both synchronized which inevitably lands on the Personal Computing teams (PC or Corporate Software release teams).

I'm assuming that playing with the msi files didn't work - because you are opening this question -  a technical way is to automate the software installation (assuming is a windows based VDI)

https://www.thewindowsclub.com/how-to-install-multiple-programs-at-once-in-windows

On our Company the PC guys (Personal Computing team) ended up automating the installation of the updated VDI thin client software using SCCM (now Microsoft Endpoint Manager).

Hope this helps!
