SPARKBOARD55 Unable to Update or Register to WebEx

Hi All,

Recently got my hands on a SPARKBOARD-55. It powers on just fine and connects to networks without any issues. However my only options so far are to register it to SPARK (screen instructions say to register at settings.ciscospark.com). Obviously spark is no longer around (as the previous URL redirects to settings.webex.com), so I have attempted to use a WebEx device registration code which fails.

Web GUI is not available as I am presented with chrome security warning, clicking proceed downloads a zip file LogPackage.zip. The ZIP file doesn't appear to contain any information that is of assistance to me directly.

I've attempted to use the CE firmware upgrades for WebEx Board 55 on a USB Stick which is not recognized as compatible firmware.

Anyone got any advice? Thanks in advance.

For those that come across this issue when they are trying to register to admin.webex.com and they see register at settings.ciscospark.com, I found my issue was that the roomOS was way to old. Reaching out to TAC and they gave me the link to upgrade via USB (make sure the USB is exFAT and a smaller USB as our 64GB failed but a 8BG worked). After this update was able to finally access the web GUI and do a step upgrade https://software.cisco.com/download/home/286314238/type/280886992/release/CE9.15.6%20StepUpgrade and THEN after this step was able to register to admin.webex.com as expected.

Hi, @CJinNV ,

Thanks for helping.

Could you share the mentioned link that TAC provided you to download a version to upgrade via USB, please?

I am not sure how long the link would be valid so it would probably be better to get the link from TAC.

Hi, @CJinNV

Thanks a lot. You saved my Board. SparkBoard now promoted to Webex Board and working with the last RoomOS version.

Thanks again and good luck for you..

Hello everyone,

Here is the final solution provided by TAC and forwarded by @CJinNV :

Please try the upgrade via USB stick using the instructions below:
1. Download code from Webex site:
https://binaries.webex.com/SparkboardProductionLatest/20190306120002/upgrade.zip
2. Copy the file onto an exFAT formatted USB stick.
3. Insert the USB stick into the rear most USB port (The one furthest from the screen).
4. Perform a factory reset by placing a safety pin into the small hole next to the USB ports and pressing down on the button inside the hole for about few seconds.
5. Select the "Upgrade from USB" - option that appears on the screen.

After this update was able to finally access the web GUI and do a step upgrade https://software.cisco.com/download/home/286314238/type/280886992/release/CE9.15.6%20StepUpgrade and THEN after this step was able to register to admin.webex.com as expected.

Hello @aosvr ,

Please confirm the current firmware and try to upgrade to the one mentioned in my previous post, if that doesn't work please open a TAC case with us.

Hello @iklenickel,

Please use the Factory reset pin hole to reset the device. See this procedure:

https://help.webex.com/en-us/article/o9j6zx/Troubleshooting-your-Cisco-Webex-Board#task_42DFA6B92F6DE6380DABCCB879F1402D

Access the GUI from FireFox or another browser instead of Chrome and check the current firmware. You must be in the latest firmware to register the device into Control Hub. Firmware can be found here:

https://software.cisco.com/download/home/286322887/type/280886992/release/RoomOS%2010.15.2.2

If you still have issues please reach Cisco TAC for support.

Cheers,
