We use Windows AppLocker. AppLocker is unable to pull the Publisher information from the latest webex.exe file, so AppLocker does not allow the webex.exe file to run:
Current webex.exe:
Path : %OSDRIVE%\USERS\username\DESKTOP\WEBEX.EXE
Publisher :
Hash : SHA256 0x6BD237B04EABB01FAADEDDE24693C0CACB9343AAAD7859DED7368EFDBCFBF3CB
AppX : False
The Publisher information used to be in the webex.exe file. This is from an older webex.exe installer:
Path : %OSDRIVE%\USERS\username\DESKTOP\WEBEX.EXE
Publisher : O=CISCO WEBEX LLC, L=SAN JOSE, S=CALIFORNIA, C=US\CISCO WEBEX MEETING DOWLOAD\WEBEX.EXE,3012.0.2016.829
Hash : SHA256 0x8D90B0839169FB5CDB4AF3760373D92C29869282FB0847C11F8E1AE8C28D21E0
AppX : False
For some reason, the Publisher information is missing in the most recent webex.exe files. So all WebEx Applocker whitelist entries based on Publisher information are rendered useless. Yes, a workaround is for users to "Join from Browser." But I'd prefer if Cisco is able to address the missing Publisher information as well.
I am therefore hoping Cisco/WebEx support reviews these forums posts. If a Cisco support person does read this, could you escalate this to the appropriate team and ask them to please add the "Publisher" name back into the exes? This will help resolve the AppLocker issues we are experiencing. Thank you.
