Cisco Webex meetings v40.12.4.7 macOS desktop app - no camera found

I am running macOS Big Sur (version 11.0.1 (20B29)) with the most current version of Cisco Webex Meetings available to me.

Webex Meetings v40.12.4.7

The desktop application can no longer find my camera. I have followed the instructions to grant the application access to my camera and microphone but the desktop application cannot find the camera of my MacBook Pro.

If I start the web browser version of Webex it is able to find the camera.

Is this a known bug with Webex Meetings v40.12.4.7

What else could be done to help correct this issue?

Thanks,

Freyman

@Freyman50227 , how are you joining the meeting: is it by clicking the Join button on the desktop app, or is it via the browser?

Via the browser you should have the option to select the join method. The screenshot above is taken from my Mac where I have the desktop app installed but I'm joining the meeting via my browser (Firefox).

@Freyman50227 , when joining a Webex meeting, don't you have the option to select the web app from the dropdown-box?

That is correct. When I try and join a meeting, the desktop application automatically launches. I am not provided with an option to do anything else.

@matt32719 , you should be able to use the web app on Big Sur?

@Goswin Weemaes I am no longer able to have Webex use the web application version. Each time I try to join a Webex meeting at this time I am prompted to download and install the Webex desktop application.

I am no longer able to participate in Webex meetings as the desktop application displays this message each time I attempt to join.

@Goswin Weemaes thanks for the support info it's very helpful. Still, is there any patch, web version or other workaround for this before January? Big Sir came out a month ago and no support from the desktop app for 2 months for an emerging os is troublesome. Many students in my masters course for Computer Science at George Washington University use Webex for class and presentations. This issue has disrupted many of the classmates sharing video and in final presentations. Is there a way to mark this as urgent?

@Freyman50227 , the link I provided above is the one for the Webex Desktop app.
Today I received the confirmation that official support of the Webex Desktop app on Big Sur will come in release 41.1 (January timeframe)
