Do clients/users have to install Webex onto their computers to join a meeting

Clients receive the meeting invitation and have been prompted more than once to install Webex onto their computer after they have already done so.  Is it even necessary for clients to have to install the application in order to join a meeting.  This is off putting for my new clients and those not comfortable with technology.....

The desktop app is not a hard requirement. The Webex meeting can be run via an embedded web client if the attendee chooses not to install the app. Chrome also has a dedicated extension for the app as well.
