"No default email client" error when computer starts

after a Windows 10 update last week, I've been getting the following error when my computer is loading apps at startup:

Title:  Microsoft Office Outlook
Message: Either there is no default mail client or the current mail client cannot fulfill the messaging request. Please run Microsoft Outlook and set it as the default mail client.

Right-clicking on the message on the taskbar shows that the message is coming from Cisco Webex Meetings Desktop App.

I'm not seeing any other reports of this issue for the Cisco Webex Desktop App in a Google search.   Any ideas how to fix this issue?

System info:

Windows 10 Version 1909 Build 18363.900

Office 365 64-bit

Webex Meetings version 40.8.6.2 (latest version according to Check for Updates)

I had the same issue and the only way I could stop the message was to change the setting in Cisco Webex Meetings Desktop App - Preferences - Calendar - Meetings List - change to Webex and leave Schedule meetings as Microsoft Outlook.  This allowed me to schedule the meeting in Outlook which adds the meeting to Outlook and then pushes it to Cisco Webex Meetings desktop app.

No more message about default mail client.
This issue started to occur after the last Windows 10 update Sep 2020.

This worked for me , Thanks.

Search for : vcruntime140_1.dll on the c drive, right click and copy it

Add the file: vcruntime140_1.dll to C:\windows\system32

Restart webex meeting, sign back in

vcruntime140_1.dll file already existed in system 32 folder for me.

I changed the settings as stated and now just get no meetings showing up in Webex.

Any other solutions?

This 3 steps worked for me else try full steps in the below link

  1. Start the registry editor (regedit.exe)
  2. Move to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Clients\Mail
  3. If the default value is not Microsoft Outlook
  4. Double click the (Default) value and set to "Microsoft Outlook" (don't type the quotes)

After this the meetings from the outlook are not shown in webex , any other suggestions.

Adding the file: vcruntime140_1.dll to C:\windows\system32 works.

This is a perfect solution, no need to change the setting in Cisco Webex Meetings Desktop App - Preferences - Calendar - Meetings List - change to Webex.

That fixed it.  Copying the vcruntime140_1.dll to C:\windows\system32 did not work (it was locked and could note overwrite anyway)

Thank you,

This really helped. Following the Accepted Solution did save us from that irritating notification but I was also unable to see the outlook calendar from webex.
