Update Webex Meetings to the new Webex

I'm curious to know what changes with the new Webex. As we all know, Webex is pushing their most recent update on a monthly basis you choose. For those that have gone through the update, what did it change? Are you still able to use Jabber? Are you still able to use Cisco Webex Meetings desktop app?

Does it force you to use the new Webex App?

We are heavy users of both Jabber and Cisco Webex Meetings desktop app, but do not have anyone on the Webex App or Webex Teams app.

Thanks, KM

You will want to be off the legacy Webex Meetings Desktop App and Webex Productivity Tools by mid-summer…. for reasons. Good ones, even.

They have already announced that WBS 42.6 will be the last release for WPT: https://help.webex.com/en-US/article/np1t7y6/Announcements-for-the-Cisco-Webex-Meetings-Suite#Cisco_Reference.dita_bc2d6c50-90d7-4f59-91a1-54317bcc412e

Webex Control Hub and the help site have details: https://help.webex.com/en-US/article/nda7hb0/Update-Webex-Meetings-to-Webex-App

And as @dtibbe suggested, your Webex CSM, channel partner, and Cisco account team can help.

PS- If you’re still using Webex Site Administration you can finally migrate that fully over to Webex Control Hub.

Everyone is encouraged to use the most current version of the Webex app. It includes all workloads, i.e. messaging, calling, and meeting, so you're getting the best overall experience.

You may ignore the Update button in the Webex Meetings Desktop app and it will still be working after your meeting site has been migrated. AFAIK, there is not final date for retiring the Meeting app. But as said, I'd recomand to benefit from all the features from within the Webex app.

Jabber is independent from that, the change just affects your Webex Meeting Desktop app.

You may also reach out your CSM or partner for further information. There are are plenty of information available for the migration path.

Thank Yout dtibbe, I am also not aware of any hard date set to retire Webex Meetings, but would agree with using the current version of the Webex App for a full featured experience
