Webex Virtual Background not working

I have been using webex for some time now and recently the virtual backgrounds with no issues. Since last week the virtual backgrounds no longer work an instead just put the background up and i am not visible at all. I have restarted my computer and have had no success. See pic attached

I uninstalled and reinstalled, the blur BG is work for a certain period of time. But later the same problem persisted.

No, it's simply an buggy upgrade process. After complete deinstall an reinstall it works again as before. Another bug is the lost of backgroung images and settings. With weekly updates it would be rellay mandatory this works like a charm, an not fiddeling around with getting the settings back.

By the way, webex makes my working webcam microphone unusable. After an update the sound is too quiet too use. No problem with webex before, no problem with zoom, teams, other VC software ...

Latest Update 41.7.8.5 this week, and the problem pops up agan ... it's really not verry funny in daily business to not have a stable VC software.

We found upgrading the desktop/laptops BIOS firmware and drives resolved nearly all of our cases/issues. Your mileage may vary but worth checking out.  In some cases ours were well behind where they should have been.

I'm facing the same issue when using my laptop's camera as the main path for input to the Webex Meeting conference. It's not able to detect that my camera is open where only the background is appearing without having my picture. I have everything updated..

I am finally giving up on WebEx after being a customer and recommending WebEx to all my clients since day one. Microsoft Teams works fine. Plus more and more of my large corporate clients as well as tech partners have switched.

A workaround for this issue is to use external software.. like OBS but that's not efficient at all.

I found a workaround, which is via the mobile phone.

 

Hope you have found a solution.

Good news, works for me, too!

So there's a bug in the normal inplace update procedure ...

Perhaps I am too cynical but we used to refer to this as “slipstreaming” and never admitting there was a bug.

Uninstalled from Sunday and downloaded from the link on my company WebEx site and reinstalled version 42.2.3.17. Shazam, the backgrounds work again.

Beats me.

Still not working for me, but they definitely changed the background replacement settings in the latest in-app update. If your machine doesn't meet the system requirements the replacement option is now absent from main settings and is grayed out in the video flyout menu during meetings. So basically all they did from my observation is attempt to hide the problem instead of actually trying to fix it 🤦‍

 

On the plus side, at least I now know they're reading feedback.

Perhaps one day I will understand why this virtual background-feature is so important to some people.

I have hardly ever seen it being used in the media, perhaps because it looks awkward (at least to me).
And since there is just an empty wall behind me, there is nothing I could be embarrassed of.

But I do understand: if a feature is available it should work.

Every person has a personal feeling about protecting the privacy. In times of working from home people want to protect their privacy like how they live or maybe they don't want that people see their children.

Others are using it for branding purposes when they talk to customers. There are lot's of different use cases but like with everything it's a personal preference to use it or not

@Fritz_HMany of us are working from home in our basements and/or other locations that aren't conducive to neat, professional backdrops and can't afford to remodel our homes just for the sake of remote appearance. A green screen with a chroma key background fixes that problem, and gives the user a professional studio appearance with any environment (I prefer simple high res abstract art) the user wants.

By the way, I've installed Intel 620 UHD driver V 27.20.100.8681, and all went well till last Webex update.

=> So Cisco, please fix it in the next update and make the app more responsiveness when starting an changeing views, share, ...

Just found and installed update 41.2.3.17, virtual background still broken.
