Resolution

MAC address authentication can be accomplished on a Access Point (AP) in these two ways:

  • Using a centralized RADIUS server to perform RADIUS-based MAC authentication

  • Using a locally configured database to perform MAC address authentication

Using a local database to authenticate users based on MAC address is called Local MAC address authentication.

For information on how to configure local MAC authentication on an AP, refer to Configuring/Enabling Local MAC Authentication.
