Resolution
Clients must support the basic rate selected for the wireless device in order to associate to this device. For example, if a value of 12 Mbps or higher is selected for the basic data rate on the 802.11g radio, 802.11b client devices cannot associate to the wireless 802.11g radio.
Note: If 802.11b and 802.11g clients are used in a WLAN network, make sure that the data rates are selected accordingly. For the Cisco Access Point (AP) to support both 802.11b and 802.11g clients, set all data rates to enable and choose the Range option.
If the AP data rate is set to Throughput, the AP transmits only at rates that are marked as required.
This output illustrates how to manually configure the data rates on the AP:
ap1200# configure terminal
ap1200(config)# interface dot11radio 0
ap1200(config-if)# no speed basic-2.0 basic-5.5
ap1200(config-if)# end
Note: At least one data rate must be set to basic.
For more information on data rate settings, refer to the Configuring Radio Data Rates section of Configuring Radio Settings.
