    Introduction

How to make minor changes to the Access Point when it crashes and reloads

    Core Issue

The Access Point (AP) crashes and reloads during a hostname change running firmware version 12.2(15)XR2.

    Resolution

To address this issue, refer to these Cisco bug IDs:

AP 1200 reboots or resets when running with version 12.2.15XR1. The reboots are not predictable in any manner of rebooting. The AP reboot requires two to four hours. The radios that run in the unit are the 802.11a and the 802.11g.

In the scenario of Cisco bug ID CSCee49659, if a user authenticates at the same time the Command Line Interface (CLI) is used to change the hostname, a reboot can occurred.

There is not enough information to determine why or when this occurs. There are no bugs reported where changing the hostname causes a crash.
