Introduction
Quick Steps to 'Downgrade' an air-lap1242ag to an autonomous AP.
AP is in complete standalone solution.
Method 1
- Configure your PC with one of this IP address 10.0.0.2 ==> 10.0.0.30 and use direct Ethernet connection with your AP.
- Download the IOS file from Cisco.
- Rename the file with one of this name:
c1200-k9w7-tar.default for a 1200 series access point
c1130-k9w7-tar.default for an 1130 series access point
c1140-k9w7-tar.default for an 1140 series access point
c1240-k9w7-tar.default for a 1240 series access point
c1250-k9w7-tar.default for a 1250 series access point.
4. Use you favorite tftp server program and put the renamed file on the correct
folder.
5. Unplug the power on the AP and press the MODE button, hold...
6. Plug the power and wait about 20-30 sec with the MODE button pressed, release the button
(You could see the in the tftp Server log your AP going and also in the terminal)
That's all, wait for the AP finish the downloading process and reboot
Alternate Method
Console into the AP :
1.Install an external TFTP tool such as tftpd32 tool from http://tftpd32.jounin.net/
2. Make sure you set the IP address for the AP if not set.
3. Download the IOS image onto the tftp's root directory. Use www.cisco.com-->support-->download software-->wireless software--> AP .-> Select IOS software.
4. Connect the Ethernet port on AP to your TFTP Server ( Laptop )
5. On AP, type
debug capwap console cli
debug capwap cli no-reload
archive download-sw /overwrite /force-reload tftp://192.168.5.12/c1140-k9w7-tar.124-25d.JA.tar
default password: Cisco
