I recently purchased a CBW140 and replaced an existing UniFi wireless network with it. I am very pleased with it, and I moved to disable the entire UniFi network and installed a CBW145 in wall unit to replace an existing UniFi unit.
However, when plugging the 145 into the network, it boots up, but does not find and link to the Master AP, the one I installed a few days ago. According to all the documentation I have read, the 145 is supposed to look for a master, and once it finds it, self-configure and provision itself with the Master AP. For some reason, this is not happening on my network.
Topology:
140AC (master ap): Core Switch > Intermediary Switch > 140AC
145AC (new subordinate): Core Switch > 145AC
Both switches have VLAN 99 (my management VLAN) as the native untagged network configured for the ports the APs are connected to, and plugging my computer into both ports instantly gives me a DHCP address from that VLAN. This confirms that both ports are operating as they should, giving out a native VLAN 99 connection.
However, the 145AC does not get a VLAN 99 DHCP at all, and in fact, gets an IP address which should not be possible on my network on any VLAN. The 145 does not appear on my pfSense DHCP lease status at all, but UniFi switching shows it having an IP address of 192.168.0.101, which is impossible.
I am confused on to what's happening, and if there is some issue I am missing. If you need me to provide further detail, I am able to.
Thank you.

Hello Lance,
Having your APs deployment you should be fine with adding the subordinate CBW145 to the primary AP CBW140. Have you checked the CBW140 operation mode - it must be set in "Primary AP". If the CBW140 is in "Primary AP" mode and both reside in the same VLAN/network then you might need to factory reset the CBW145 (https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/access_point/csbap/CBW_Admin/Admin/en_US/b_Cisco_AP_Admin_Guide.pdf Resetting a Device to Factory Default) and connect again to the switch port. The AP should automatically boot up, sync the firmware to match the Primary AP, copy the configuration and join the WLAN. Then from the Wireless Settings->Access Points, you should see the newly added AP.

Martin

I have factory reset the CBW145 a few times, and the CBW140 is designated as the Primary AP in the configuration. To be sure I even restarted the CBW140, and performed a factory reset on the 145, still to no avail.

Hello Lance,
Does the primary CBW140 get an IP address from your management VLAN 99? The management IP address should be within
current subnet of your local VLAN and not in the client pool issued by your DHCP server. Please follow the initial configuration steps from this following guide:
or launch the setup wizard (page 11 from the admin guide) https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/access_point/csbap/CBW_Admin/Admin/en_US/b_Cisco_AP_Admin_Guide.pdf
Regards,
Martin
