I cannot set up a Cisco router as an access point. The model is E1000.
Here is the configuration:
The computer is Windows XP Pro with all service packs and updates.
Connect one of the Ethernet ports directly to the Ethernet point of the computer.
Access the router firmware and set the IP to 192.168.1.2
Disable DHCP
Set the time zone
When I save this page, the screen says "Setting are successful. You will be returned to the previous page after several seconds." However, it never comes back to the BIOS page. The only way out is to use the Task Manager to cancel the task. Restarted a browser but 192.168.1.2 was not recognized. Also cannot access with 192.168.1.1. So something was changed in the router but not what I want.

hello
E1000 is Linksys product (no more part of Cisco). You have to ask on Wireless Routers Linksys Community forums.

Hello,
First of all the E1000 is a Linksys device so it would be a good idea to go to the Linksys forums.
Second, forgetting for a minute that you are talking about a Linksys router, and pretending this is any other router, I think that your issue is very simple.
If i'm understanding correctly, you are connecting your PC to the router and then you disabled DHCP on the router.
If that is the case then what is most likely happening is that your PC no longer has an IP address because you disabled the DHCP server on the router. I will assume that your changes were saved and everything is working fine, but in order for you to access the router again you will need to assign a static IP address to your PC, something like 192.168.1.100 and then I'm very positive that you will be able to access the router again.
Now, after you are done configuring everything and you connect the router, now working as an AP to your router, then you will need to remove the static IP address from your PC and then you will be able to connect wirelessly to the device and get IP addresses.
I Hope this was helpful
