WRVS 4400N v1.1 & MDNS - Printing IPAD to HP PhotoSmart C410a

I have purchased a HP Photosmart Premium Fax e-All-in-One Printer - C410a (CQ521A).

I also have an IPAD version 4.1.3.

Based on the documentation, I should be able to print from the IPAD to the Photosmart - C410a

I have followed the directions for configuring the printer and can successful print from Windows 7.

When I attempt to print from the IPAD, the IPAD does not detect any printers on this network.

I have determined that both the devices are on the network.

I have used WireShark to monitor the network traffic.

The IPAD is at ip 192.68.0.104 and the printer is at ip 192.168.0.123

When the IPAD is searching for printers, I can see it mutlicasting... 224.0.0.251 but there does not appear to be any response.

My question is does the WRV 4400N v1.1 process MDNS packets?

Kevin,

I believe you need to download and install HP iPrint. As for the multicast traffic question, the answer is yes if your allowing it. This assumes you have no rules setup to block the traffic.

You could put your sniffer on that same port as the printer to confirm and take of the IP on a temp basis. I would say that is overkill and recommend trying the iPrint solution first.
