Greetings,
In the 1200AP Documentation, there are several references to CLI. If I console into the device, I get a menu driven interface.
How do I get to the CLI?
Thanks

My guess is that the CLI refers to the IOS type AP-1200.
The AP-1200 with Vx-Works have a menu driven interface.
You could get the CLI in VX-Works with an escape sequence ( its shows the escape seq. at boot up), but it is not similar to the menu driven interface and is used to set the unit to factory settings or for passwd recovery.

Sorry for being blind.... but the only esc sequence I see is (esc) for DRAM.

I do not recommend that you go playing around with the DRAM unless you really need to and you know what you are doing.
Ok now to your question.
The AP1200 has 2 software options IOS based 12.2(11)JA or Vxworks 12.03T
From what you have described you have VxWorks the menus you are talking about is the CLI if you want Cisco IOS (router) type of CLI then you will need to upgrade to IOS to get this
The command line interface references you see in the documentation is refering to console or telnet access compared to the GUI of the web interface
