2504 Wireless Controller - Login Issue

Morning,

Not sure if anyone else seen this issue after a reboot of access points and the wireless controller where the GUI and the CLI page keeps asking for a username and password to login, I do know my credentials are correct. Sadly I'm not familiar with this brand or set this device up so I'm hesitant to try to Factory Restore this hardware.  Does anyone have any suggestions where to start to get back into this device?

Thanks!

Heather

I figured out what the issue was!  For whatever reason the device didn't hold onto the new accounts that I created a couple months back, luckily I was able to find the OLD initial creds that it came with.  But after this next restart it might be time to figure out why it wont allow anyone to connect to it..lets hope NOT!  its Monday, just want it smooth....

Have you tried the credentials from the console port or telnet/ssh which ever you have enabled? At least this will tell you if the credentials you are using is correct. You didn’t mention if this was something you have tried.
If that works, then maybe try different browsers or another device to access the GUI. Let us know what happens from these tests.

Hi Scott,

I've tried different browsers on my PC, a different PC, I've tried Bitvise to login and when prompted for creds and I enter it just asks me again.  I'm going to try to get in with the Console port and will update if that gives me the same grief. This is not how I imagined my Monday Smh :(

You shouldn’t have any issues unless the credentials was changed or possibly incorrectly entered. If you can ssh/telnet or get into the console then you can add a new username/password and give that a shot. I have fat fingered passwords 1% of my overall Installs and having two credentials configured have helped me get around this issue. If you are not able to login to the console, then you will have to factory reset the controller as there is no way to get around this.

As a backup I created a second admin account, just in case something ever changed on my one account.  Its just odd that neither work and I'm the only one with access to that log in info.  I have these passwords saved in lastpass and never had to type them in manually.  Since I never set one of these up before I'm stressing its going to be awhile for me to figure out what to do and how to get my access points to play along.

You have to save the config on the WLC or else if there is a power outage or the WLC is rebooted, you will loose the configuration again. Always best to test login using both the GUI and cli.

Thank you for all your suggestions.

Hi Scott,

Hoping you can help us. Were having to see the access point in WLC during the fail over. The issue happens when we do the fail over to ISP 2 but the WLC can ping the access points from Site B. Traceroute and ping are all positive. Is this a bug or capwap issue? Thank you very much
