AP 1300 or 1200 as a router

Just thinking loud: would it be great if we could make Cisco 1300 and/or 1200 series Access Point to act as routers? The benefits would be in limiting the broadcast domain, for one.

If you can add an 5.8GHz interface and route, you can have an perfect network of many access points, without going through the trouble of repeaters, frequency interference and throughput issue.

We are implementing an similar scenario with equipment from a different vendor, but would like to use an Cisco product there.

Currently all Cisco APs are simple layer 2 devices, not sure if Cisco has any plans of converting them as layer 3 devices. You can always confgure VLANs in these APs to limit the broadcast domain.
