Hi WLC(management interface), AP are in the same vllan10 through Switch3560 connection. The AP can work well with WLC. then I create a new wlan, new vlan20 etc. After putting the AP to the new vlan, the AP can get ip address, but it cannot join the WLC. Which commands or action do I miss? Thank you

As long as you can ping WLC IP from AP, below should work, assuming you have same WLC with mgt IP in your previous post.

AP#capwap ap primary-base WLC-1 10.1.1.9

There are different way for APs to learn about WLC, above is static method.

Refer below post for learn about other methods

It can work now with several ways. Thank you

BTW, there are two DHCP server mentioned in WLC gui. One is internal, other is external dhcp under interface. What is difference between the two? if the two are enabled at same time, which has higher priority? thanks

Internal DHCP is if you want WLC as DHCP server, If you are using this feature for lab purposes no problem. It is not meant to use as production DHCP service ( it does not scale well). Refer below post on WLC DHCP

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/wireless/4400-series-wireless-lan-controllers/110865-dhcp-wlc.html

If you defined two DHCP servers, there is no way you can prefer one over the other. Whatever server respond first will win, so client will get IP from a DHCP server respond faster.

I would not use internal DHCP for any production setup. For a study/lab purposes no problem. Note that newer controller 5520/8540 is not supporting this internal DHCP feature at all
