Relatively new to intimate knowledge/deployments of Cisco equipment, so I'll classify myself as a NOOB and thus you've been warned
I suspect this thread will grow as initial answers to my questions may spawn new questions to arise. I have a market segment I'm trying to address utilizing the Cisco 1552c integrated cable modem/Access Point unit. A key part to my network design I'm whiteboarding requires that I can ping the AP with a local networking device using an ethernet interface. There is an ethernet port is located behind the access plug to the right of the 4 status lights (orientation is AP antenna nipples facing down). This AP cable modem circuit board has an ethernet switch with 4 gig-e ports configured on it. Doing a show interfaces from the cli reveals all four enthernet ports are recognized. The install guide states this port is "Not Used". My first question is what exactly is this port (defaulted) for? Once someone knows what the answer to that is then I need to find a way to be able to use it to connect a device to it.
Thanks!
