Hi Team,

In C9115AXI-A do I need to have a controller for this? Or this AP can run without controller?

Thank you!

-Mike

Hello @Michael Borbon,

The 9115 Wi-Fi 6 access points are available with a built-in controller. The Cisco Embedded Wireless Controller on Catalyst 9100 Access Points provides an easy-to-deploy and manage option that does not require a physical appliance.

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/access_point/9115ax/quick/guide/ap9115ax-getstart.html

Also, the 9115AXI-A AP can operate in autonomous mode. In this mode, the AP operates independently without the need for a controller. It functions as a standalone device and can be configured directly through its own web-based GUI or CLI. It provides local data forwarding and management capabilities without relying on a centralized controller.

Best regards

Dear Michael,

You can use C9115AXI-A without controller.
But please be aware that, as far as I know, the EWC on an AP doesn't support fabric mode (so NO SDA), but only FlexConnect.
