Can't Access Web-Authentication Page on Cisco WLC

Hello Everyone,

I've made all the configurations needed in order to deploy web-authentication on the wireless network.

The problem is that the webpage for web-authentication never shows up.
What kind of configurations do I have to make on the DNS server?

On the Virtual interface I have a non routable IP (1.1.1.1) but I am not sure if the DNS Host Name is correct. The DNS I inserted it's the same the web client when entering the network.

The webclient has IP from dhcp server and can resolve names like "nslookup google.com".

Do you have any suggestions to keep troubleshooting this issues?

The WLC version is 8.0.121.0 and the model is a 5508.

Any other information you need please do tell.

Best regards,

Ruben

We'll need more information to help you here. Can you provide the screenshot of your LAYER 3 settings on the WLAN?

On the Controller tab, then Interfaces, go to the virtual interface with IP of 1.1.1.1 and see the DNS name entered there (it can be anything, but set it to something you have access to create a DNS record for). For example, if your domain is XYZ.com, you could enter guests.xyz.com

Then on the DNS server for xyz.com create a new A record called guests and IP address of 1.1.1.1

Depending on your WLAN setup, when someone connects to the web-auth WLAN network they should get redirected to guests.xyz.com (resolves as 1.1.1.1). You may get a certificate error.

Make sure the DNS server that you set the 1.1.1.1 record on is accessible by the wireless client (depends on your DHCP scope settings). If you set the client's DNS servers to external servers, then those servers are the ones that need the guests.xyz.com record added.
