I would check your VM setting first. Here is my vwlc VM setting, I had to set 2nd adapter as trunk. Ensure you can ping your gateway address from vWLC.

Hi Rasika,

Thanks for your reply.

Here is my vWLC VM setting. I think all thing are good. Adapter 1 is linked to Service Port so I assigned vlan50 to it since this is my Mgmt vlan. Adapter 2 is linked to Management Port thus I set it as Trunk all vlans. Please note that I enabled Promiscuous for these adapter as well.

I have tried to tag vWLC interface Management with vlan id 31 by issue command "config interface vlan management 31" , Core switch (interface vlan 31: 172.16.31.3) cannot ping vWLC Management interface (ip: 172.16.31.2) immediately.

In another word, If Mgmt interface is untagged so CoreSW can ping Mgmt interface and if Mgmt interface is tagged vlan 31 it will not be reachable.

This is so strange because I have done a lab on EVE-NG, even the Mgmt interface is tagged vlan 31 CoreSW still can reach IP of Mgmt interface.

If you tag mgt interface on wlc to vlan 31, then you should have a native vlan other than vlan 31 on core switch.

If you want to keep native vlan 31 on the trunk, then you have to untagged (put vlan number 0) it on wlc.

Thanks for your explaination, Rasika.

So it seems my problem is still cannot be solved...

Please assume that vWLC Mgmt interface is unttaged

I would describe my topology logically as: 1815i AP ------- G1/0/2 CoreSW G1/0/1------- VMwareSVR

The current switchport configration is as following:

!

interface GigabitEthernet1/0/1

description Connect to WLC

switchport mode trunk

!

interface GigabitEthernet1/0/2

switchport trunk native vlan 31

switchport mode trunk

!

Is the configuration correct? I think that I need to add the command "switchport trunk native vlan 31" on Gi1/0/1 which connects to vWLC so I can ping Mgmt interface from interface vlan 31 on CoreSW.
