I don't know that I would migrate this config. 4400 and 5508 different beast.
Take 10 minutes to rebuild the config .. Just rebuild it ..

There is no documentation on this. Cisco will tell you to configure the new 5508 from scratch. You can do it, but its not supported.
It's best to have the WLC's on the same code first off. When you do a backup of the 4400, you will need to edit the config file and make changes to any of the IP address, host names etc. You will also have to delete the username entry and add it back in clear text so it's not encrypted or else you will not be able to login. MAKE SURE THAT ANY LINE YOU EDIT OR CREATE HAS A TRAILING SPACE!!!!!!
Like George mentioned, it might be safe to just build it from scratch, but I guess you can try restoring the config to the new WLC and see if it works for you. You can always factory default the new 5508 if you have to.

Hello
thank you gents ; Two question
Q1 - can i unencrypt the key for an SSID as it appears as *****
this option is WLC GUI
Wlan
click on Wlan ID
click security
click Layer2
WPA2 encryption checked AES and TKIP
Auth Key Mgmt PSK
PSK format ASCII
*****
Q2 - which is the most latest stable version for WLC 5508

Well you can leave that alone as if it doesn't work initially, you can always manually change the psk from the GUI.
As to the most stable code, well first off make sure the code matches when you restore the config from the 4400. Then you really can go with any of the latest version from any of the 7.x. Depending on what you have, I would probably go in this order:
7.2.x
7.0.x
7.4.x
7.3.x
This is my preference.

I don't believe so. But you don't need to decrypt it unless you don't know what it is? If you don't know what it is, you can always go to a windows 7 machine and view the preshared key.
You might try this, but it has to be perceived from the console.
