Internet Access via Remote AP

Hi All,

I have my main site (A) which hosts a WLC  and also has a local Internet breakout. Prime also runs at this site.

I have Site B which is one of our remote sites that has an AP connected to it.

I have the AP firmware all downloaded and can see it in Prime.

At Site B I want to have 2 SSIDs - one which connects you to the standard corporate network. I then want to have a guests SSID which allows Interent traffic only, but this traffic has to go through the breakout at Site A. This is due to Site B not having a breakout.

I have the SSIDs setup and usually our sites have local breakouts so I use flexconnect for the guests vlan and configure some routemaps on the local routers to force  guests out. But on Site B, there is no local breakout so not to sure how I can get them to use Site A's breakout.

Hi Grant.

You can set your APs into FlexConnect mode and it will do local on central switching. It depends only on your WLAN configuration.

Take a look at this FlexConnect configuration guide:

https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-24082

  • If you enable "FlexConnect Local switching" on the WLAN ( on the advanced settings tab) - your WLAN will be Locally switced.
  • If you do not enable this, your WLAN will be Centrally swiched.
