Hi! I bought a new access point for my wireless controller because one of the old access points broke. When I plug in the new one, it doesn't show up in the controller's web interface. How do I make it appear so I can set it up?

Sisco 3504 wireless controller with software version 8.5.140.0.
Cisco C9124AXI-E Catalyst Wireless Access Point.

Hello @Lza1  The reason ur new C9124AXI-E access point isn’t showing up is because it’s not supported on ur Cisco 3504 WLC with version 8.5.140.0. The Catalyst 9100 series access points require:

  • AireOS version 8.10 or later, or

  • A 9800 series controller running IOS-XE.

What u can do though is to:

  1. Check if your 3504 can be upgraded to 8.10.x and upgrade if possible.

  2. Use a supported controller, like a Cisco 9800.

  3. Return the access point and get one compatible with AireOS 8.5, such as the 2800 or 3800 series.

Hope it helps and PEACE!
