I'm looking into an RFID solution for a customer who wants to tag a warehouse full of objects and would like to be able to locate them in 3D space, so they know which shelf they're sitting on, aisle etc. Is this possible, and if so can i implement it with a Cisco WLC?
Also, can someone point me in the direction of approved RFID tag vendors that work with Cisco kit; i can't find anything on the website.
Thanks in advance,
Jason

3d positioning is not possible as the WCS floormaps shows the floor at the ground level. Moreover, I doubt this would be even feasible as calcuting a 3d location out of 3 signal strengths and including obstacles ... that would mean you have to draw every object in 3d on your map so I don't think this will come as a feature in the future.
Aeroscout is a famous brand of supported tags with Cisco devices.

Great question !
Even RFID in 2D is quite premature and
not very accurate to the point of pinpointing something at the exact location. It can broadly track
things in the range of 5 to 10mts accuracy.
Aeroscout and Pango are cisco compatible tags. Be very careful when designing wireless for RFID, if you mess up with the design you gonna have lot of trouble later during implementation phase to get things working !
