Dears,

i've got a strange problem, the AP (first time, first try of this Model) rejects the Discovery response from the controller.

[*10/28/2021 00:15:09.8401] CAPWAP SM handler: Failed to process message type 2 state 2.
[*10/28/2021 00:15:09.8401] Failed to handle capwap control message from controller - status 4

ok, first Idea: IOS of the Controller is too old. But - no:

The following access point platforms are supported in this release:

CUT
Cisco Aironet 1530 Series Access Points

Cisco Aironet 1550 Series Access Points

Cisco Aironet 1560 Series Access Points

Cisco Aironet 1570 Series Access Points
CUT

Found here:

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/controller/release/notes/crn83mr3.html#concept_ejl_stn_zdb

Hardware WLC: 5520

IOS WLC: 8.3.133.0

Hardware AP: AP1562

The same AccessPoint Hardware is listed in IOS 8.3, 8.5 and 8.8.

Any Ideas?

Add the AP MAC address here Security>>AAA>>AP Policies, Certificate type should be selected MIC, or directly connect to the AP via console and use command "capwap ap mode local".

I would highly recommend upgrading your WLC to latest TAC recommended release after verifying the compatibility of AP models registered.

 - Make sure the  Regulatory Domain  between the AP and controller match.

Dear,

sorry for the late reply, too much topics, too less time...

You're absolutly right, the command "capwap ap mode local" set by console let the accessPoint join to the controller, thanks a lot!
