I have two AIR-SAP1602E-A-K9 that have AIR-ANT2544V4M-R= Antennas attached. 3 of the 4 ports are attached as the AP only has 3 ports. They are both running off PoE from a D-Link DGS-1210-10P switch. The AP reports it has full power.
The signal strength from both of the devices seems to be too low. This is in a warehouse that was recently expanded. There is an Aironet 1242 series that has more strength from across the warehouse. The 1602 can be between me and the 1242 and I'll still connect to the the 1242 because the strength is stronger. There are 3 APs in the building, two of them are 1602s. I am using channel 1, 6 and 11. According to inSSIDer I had a signal strength of about -50 dBm while standing directly next to the 1602. This was about the same strength of the 1242 across the warehouse room.
Is there something about my setup that is incorrect? Wrong antenna for the AP? Do I need an actual Cisco PoE injector despite the fact it says it has full power? The switch reports the devices are using about using 5.7 W and 53.9 V.
